Another edition of the Young Geomorphologists’ Workshops (pol. Warsztaty Młodych Geomorfologów), the seventeenth so far, is behind us. The event is organized by the Polish Association of Geomorphologists (pol. Stowarzyszenie Geomorfologów Polskich), including its Commission for Innovative Research Methods in Geomorphology (pol. Komisja Innowacyjnych Metod Badań w Geomorfologii, KIMB), and it consistently attracts a large group of students and PhD students. This time, participants were welcomed at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (pol. Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej, UMCS). As is tradition, the program combined theoretical sessions with practical and sightseeing components. This year, participants learned about the significance of loess areas and the methods used to study them, heard about the activities of the Association, funding opportunities for research projects, and academic mobility, and had the chance to tackle the challenge of work-life balance. In the field, participants explored the landscape of loess gullies surrounding Kazimierz Dolny. On the last day, drone workshops took place around the UMCS “Albrechtówka” station. Maurycy Żarczyński co-organized the workshops on behalf of KIMB.

Three of our students took part in the workshops. They are completing or have completed their theses in our Department, and they are also members of the Students’ Scientific Society of Geographers of the University of Gdańsk (pol. Studenckie Koło Naukowe Geografów UG): Barbara Biały, Maja Łaska, and Anastazja Mastylak.

We sincerely thank our colleagues from UMCS for their hospitality and for putting together such an exceptionally interesting program.
