In a new paper published in Quaternary Science Reviews, a team of authors including Maurycy Żarczyński examined Holocene changes in the extent of mountain glaciers in the catchment of Eklutna Lake. Using a broad set of geochemical and sedimentological data together with statistical methods, the team showed that glaciers were relatively small until about 5,500 years ago, and that by around 4,000 years ago they had expanded to a size comparable to the present one.
