rom 28 to 30 June, our Department hosted Dr Shasha Liu from Ludong University, located in the city of Yantai on the Yellow Sea coast of China. Dr Liu conducts research on sustainable coastal management, including the development of nature-based solutions. She is part of a team responsible for developing plans and monitoring the effects of coastal revitalization projects along the Chinese coast.
During her stay, Dr Liu had the opportunity to visit selected stretches of the Polish coast together with Patryk Sitkiewicz. She was particularly impressed not only by the scale of the dunes in Słowiński National Park, but also by how natural and green the Polish coast remains. The visit was also an opportunity to exchange Chinese experiences in coastal zone management and to work together on a new manuscript exploring the valuation of beaches as an element of natural capital.
The visit marks another step in the scientific collaboration between our Department and the School of Hydraulic and Civil Engineering, Ludong University, and lays the groundwork for further joint research and publications.
