Field course “Coasts and Lakelands” 2026

Studenci na wydmach Słowińskiego Parku Narodowego

Every year in May we find ourselves asking all kinds of questions about teaching methods – for example: “Can a lecture on aeolian processes take place in a deflation hollow at the foot of a dune slope, right in the heart of Słowiński National Park?” Of course it can, and that is what makes studying geography so wonderful.
Between May 10–14, first-year students took part in the field course “Coasts and Lakelands” (pol. „Wybrzeża i pojezierza”). During the course they traversed northern Poland, starting from Rewa, through Jastrzębia Góra, and continuing along the coast all the way to Świnoujście. Although, much like on the southern trip, the cold made itself felt – and in the very heart of the “Jar Rzeki Raduni” nature reserve (Radunia River Gorge) students and instructors alike were caught in a hailstorm – everyone returned from the fieldwork soaked in smiles and knowledge!

The course was led by Kamil Nowiński and Izabela Chlost from the Department of Hydrology, Mariusz Kistowski from the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management, and Patryk Sitkiewicz and Sanjaya Gurung from our department.
