Profesor UG, Kierownik pracowni
I am a geomorphologist and Quaternary geologist, primarily working with glacigenic landforms and sediments. My favourite research subjects are diamictons (till, debris-flow deposits) and erratic material ranging from gravel within diamictons to large erratic boulders. I have curated a collection of Fennoscandian rocks commonly found in glacial deposits, which is available, among other formats, as a permanent exhibition. I also study sediment deformation, including deformation caused by earthquake activity related to the presence of the ice sheet. In addition, I analyse stone artefacts and rock features at archaeological sites, as well as the geomorphological context of those sites.
Currently, I am involved in projects focused on, among others: the chronology of deglaciation in Central Europe based on cosmogenic nuclide dating; postglacial evolution of tills in the southern Baltic region; the prehistoric environmental development of the Gdańsk Pomerania region; and I continue to collaborate with the team of the completed GREBAL project (sediment deformation related to seismic processes).
I supervise a substantial group of PhD students and teach several courses, including Geomorphology for geography and geology students, Environmental Reconstruction (seminar and lecture) for students of Physical Geography with Geoinformation, and Research Workshop for doctoral students at the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography.
