I am a geographer specializing in hydrology, meteorology, and climatology; however, my scientific work focuses on the study of peatlands and lakes. My research involves the use of single-celled microorganisms—testate amoebae—in lake studies and as quantitative indicators of hydrological changes in peatlands. I also analyze macroscopic charcoal as an indicator of past fire activity. Currently, my research focuses on assessing the biodiversity of testate amoebae occurring in lakes and their potential use for reconstructing environmental changes in the agricultural landscape of Central Europe. The research sites are located in Poland.
