Not long ago, we reported on the special issue of PAGES Magazine dedicated to imaging techniques in paleogeographical research. We are pleased to announce that this was only an introduction to something much bigger. A new working group – PaleoIMAGING – has joined the PAGES network. Its main goal is to develop a coherent system that integrates various imaging techniques, such as hyperspectral imaging, X‑ray fluorescence, and computed microtomography, in a controlled, reproducible, and reliable manner.
We are particularly pleased that Maurycy Żarczyński from our department and Witold Szczuciński from the Geo-Hazards Laboratory at the Institute of Geology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań are among the key members of the newly formed group and contributed to establishing its foundations.
