A workshop on imaging techniques in paleo science was held in Mainz from March 11-13. “1st Paleoimaging Workshop” was held at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. This was the first meeting of its kind aimed at integrating the community of scientists using a variety of imaging techniques to reconstruct environmental changes. Four methods led the way: 1) X-ray fluorescence analysis (XRF), 2) computed tomography (CT), 3) mass spectrometry imaging (MSI), and 4) hyperspectral imaging (HSI).
We couldn’t miss it there. At the invitation of the organizers, Maurycy Żarczyński traveled to Germany to present his ongoing project on the development of the HSI method. During the workshop, important arrangements were made for us, including the decision to formalize our joint efforts.
