The issue of coastal protection in the Jastrzebia Gora area has been the subject of heated discussions for decades. It is a very interesting example of the interplay between the interests of residents, businesses, tourists, environmentalists, and the administration in managing natural hazards. On the other hand, it is a remarkable example of the evolution of cliff coastal relief, which has been heavily transformed by man and is constantly subjected to natural phenomena, sometimes powerful erosive processes.
In the latest article, co-authored by Damian Moskalewicz, Tri-City scientists join forces to present a new method for detecting areas of cliff sculpture degradation using remote sensing and machine learning methods as a cheap and effective way to monitor natural hazards on the coast.
